The Mazda CX-30 Is a Newer Version of the CX-3

 Mazda Is Always Improving!

Mazda has plenty of awesome SUVs. SUVs are popular practical vehicles for families and single people alike, which is why the Mazda brand includes a nice array in its lineup. We realize, however, that sometimes even the best models need an upgrade. Think of the CX-30 as a refreshed CX-3. Today, we are going to take a look at the discontinued Mazda CX-3 and the newer Mazda CX-30. For this blog, we will be focusing on the 2023 model year of the CX-30 and the 2021 model year of the CX-3, which was its final year.

Mazda CX-3

This vehicle is a bit of a smaller ride, which makes it nice for people who live in cities that have street parking and tight parking spaces. This does, of course, mean that the cabin is also smaller. The wheelbase in this model is 101.2 inches, with a length of 168.3 inches and a width of 69.6 inches.

The CX-3 comes with a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine. It has a horsepower of 148 and 146 lb-ft of torque. MotorTrend described the CX-3 as having a “sporty ride.” The CX-3 has a six-speed automatic transmission that can either send all the power to the front wheels or all four wheels when using all-wheel-drive.

Mazda CX-30

This is the larger of the two SUVs, making it a great choice for taking a group road trip. If the CX-3 is too small for your lifestyle, the 2023 CX-30 is a good step up that still isn’t overwhelmingly large. The wheelbase is 104.5 inches, the length is 173 inches and the width is 70.7 inches. Its size remains manageable while providing additional space for riders. The CX-30 comes with a 2.5-liter engine. It has an increased horsepower of 191—up from 186 in the previous model years. Both versions, of course, are still an improvement from the CX-3. There is even the option for a 250-hp turbocharged engine on certain trim levels. This model also features all-wheel-drive.

Car and Driver summed up the differences in this model by saying it is, “more powerful, more spacious, and more upscale.” We still love the CX-3 for what it is, but we believe the CX-30 is a great example of the Mazda brand constantly improving on its already awesome vehicles.   

As you can see, these vehicles have minor differences. We know that Mazda is always working to upgrade its vehicles. That is why the CX-30 took inspiration from the CX-3, with some tweaks that we view as improvements. While the CX-3 is no longer being made, you can still find used versions at McDonald Mazda West.
